Bite the Bullet
 | Schedule the most difficult or important task first. Get it out of the way. Don't waste your time and energy worrying about doing it. The rest of your tasks will go a lot smoother with the tough ones out of the way.
 | Plan your telephone calls. Know what you want to say and get accomplished in each call, even personal calls. Write it down and have it in front of you during your call.
 | Save time and steps by "bunching" together tasks like faxing or using the copying machine.
Remember, Plenty of Your Work Requires Quiet Time
 | Plan time each day for tasks that require quiet time.
 | Block out this time in your planner.
 | Protect yourself by telling people you are busy at that time.
How to Plan
 | Set realistic deadlines for projects.
 | Think through the different steps in the project. Write them down. Assign due dates to each step.
 | Get whatever you need to help you successfully complete the job.
 | When planning involves other people (meetings, due dates, etc.) consider the time of day, week or month. Don't make assumptions about other people's availability.
 | Plan for the unexpected. Leave at least 20% of your day unplanned.
 | End each day by planning the next day.
Write Things Down
 | Create checklists for projects or frequent tasks. Include material or equipment needed, shipping addresses, due dates, people involved and how to reach them, etc. Keep the lists handy, either as hard copies or on your computer.
 | Use a daily planner to list all of your daily, monthly and yearly activities.
 | Simplify your life by using just one list.
